Brian McKeown is a Peabody Award-winning writer, filmmaker and producer, co-creator, co-writer and producer of the miniseries, Human Cargo, winner of 7 Gemini Awards, including “Best Writing in a Movie or Miniseries”, “Best Miniseries”, four Leo Awards, including “Best Writing”, Best Miniseries”, the Robert W. Wagner Award for Excellence in Narrative Screenwriting and the George Foster Peabody Award.
Brian is the Producer and Executive Producer of the television feature, Frostfire, winner of a Chris Award at the Columbus International Film and Video Festival and “Best Drama over Thirty Minutes” at the Dreamspeakers Festival, the first annual Aboriginal Film Awards.
From 1985 to 1990, Brian was Producer and Executive Producer of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation drama series, The Beachcombers, producing close to 100 episodes.
Brian is also a documentary filmmaker, producer and studio director in news and current affairs with experience throughout Canadian television, including CityTV and CMTV in Toronto, CBC in Toronto and Vancouver and with the educational broadcaster TVOntario.
He founded Howe Sound Films in 1989.
